School History

In 2001, a group of Brisbane parents had a vision to start a non-profit co-operative pre-school in Brisbane. In August 2002, the City Council granted the lease to 4 Solano Street to Silverspot. Silverspot is licensed by the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, Facility #414001706. The grassroots operation is a tribute to the spirit of cooperation and the result of many hours of hard work.

School Philosophy

The goal at Silverspot is to provide a safe, secure environment in which children learn through play to develop their social and language skills. Children are provided with many outlets for learning – books, music, art, cooking, gardening, and exploration of the natural world. Promoting our children to be engaged, independent learners during and after they leave pre-school is of paramount importance to us. We plan to develop close relationships with local kindergarten teachers to promote kindergarten readiness. Using our community as our inspiration, we will introduce the children to the multi-cultural world in which they live, celebrating the art, food, stories and holidays of many different cultures. We do not discrimintate against families of any race, creed, religion, sexual orientation, or nationality. Diversity is valued; all family structures are welcome at Silverspot. We are a member of California Council of Parent Participation Nursery Schools. Silverspot accepts children who are not yet potty trained.

We accept children between the ages of 2.5 years and 5 years 11 months.
